Overview of the Role

The Test Automation Architect role is responsible for managing all aspects of the automated testing processes in support of continuous integration and will work closely with our entire Product Engineering team to develop a bird’s eye view of our entire product offering with an eye to designing and building our next level framework. The ideal candidate will bring both technical chops and leadership skills, with a desire to build a culture of quality excellence through automation.

This role sits on the Privia Product Engineering Team, a team that has built one of the most integrated care delivery environments in the country. Our platform connects our doctors, our patients, and our care management team, enabling high quality, coordinated care. 

Primary Job Duties:

  • Work across all Product Engineering Scrum teams to understand requirements and business use cases for our full product suite and leverage that knowledge in test and framework management.
  • Improve and maintain our existing automated test suite, developing metrics, efficient test paths, test ranking, and repeatable and measurable process improvements. 
  • Take a leadership role across all Scrum teams to improve our integrated testing capabilities 
  • Act as a leader and mentor for the QA team for test automation, including leading biweekly QA retro, training, and process improvement efforts.
  • Champion best practices for test automation and mentor others to incorporate DevOps (CI/CD) methodologies through all phases of the software lifecycle to achieve optimal results and deliver quality products to stakeholders. 
  • Manage testing framework to include:
    • Managing all the test environments across scrum teams (web, mobile, data, salesforce)
    • Building and maintaining test data
    • Managing the data refresh process with our EMR
    • Configuring tools and systems for specific test needs
    • Coordinating the installation, maintenance and configuration of testing tools
  • Work with DevOps, Engineers, and Privia leadership to develop a path towards future improvements with the aim of building an ideal testing framework for our cloud based architecture and expanding testing capabilities in load and performance testing

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
    • Automated testing experience for web and mobile applications
    • Utilizing an enterprise-class test management tool
    • Testing all layers of a web application, including front-end, service layer, and back-end.
  • Experience with modern cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining a modern testing frameworks
  • Experience testing APIs
  • Experience with performance, load and/or security testing.
  • Experience managing large test data resources
  • Advanced problem-solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Comfortable with command line functions such as connecting to remote servers and tailing or searching log files using unix/linux commands
  • Selenium(Capybara/RSPEC) experience plus proficiency in at least one object oriented programming language
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and proficiency writing SQL queries
  • Must provide accessibility to private, quiet work space with high-speed internet to effectively work remotely
  • Must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations

Preferred additional background and skills:

  • Healthcare IT industry experience, especially in electronic health records and related systems
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Expertise in more than one programming language
  • Knowledge and experience working with HL7 interfaces
  • Experience working in a fast growing organization
  • Working knowledge of JIRA and Jira Xray

Technical Requirements:

In order to successfully work remotely, supporting our patients and providers, we require a minimum of 5 MBPS for Download Speed and 3 MBPS for the Upload Speed. This should be acquired prior to the start of your employment. The best measure of your internet speed is to use online speed tests like . This gives you an update as to how fast data transfer is with your internet connection and if it meets the minimum speed requirements. Work with your internet provider if you have questions about your connection. Employees who regularly work from home offices are eligible for expense reimbursement to offset this cost.
